Under Eye Treatment, Getting Rid of Dark Eyes

Different under-eye treatments available for getting rid of dark circles

There are many different under eye treatments available for getting rid of dark eyes, ranging from simple home remedies to cosmetic surgery, and being informed about all the different options is the best way to find the perfect treatment for you. Several options are listed here in order of intensity and cost.

Home Remedies

If you only suffer from mild dark circles, or want to temporarily relieve your eyes, these home remedies can be a good alternative to more intensive (and expensive) under-eye treatment. Although these remedies are less effective at getting rid of dark eyes than some other approaches, they can all be attempted using common items from any kitchen.

Cucumber slices both cool the eyes and cause the under-eye blood vessels to constrict, reducing their visibility. Refrigerated tea bags have a similar effect. Some experts suggest that you alternate between warm and cool teabags for the best result.

Of course, the best simple way to get rid of dark eyes is to tackle the root of the problem. As dark circles can be caused by dehydration and lack of sleep, drinking plenty of water and ensuring that you get seven hours of sleep a night may help improve them over time.

Concealing

This is another good, short-term solution, but many people find it difficult to cover up dark eyes with regular concealer. For the best results, choose a concealer that is one shade lighter than your regular skin and opt for a yellow-based one to balance out the blueness of under-eye bruises. Avoid oil-based creams, as these will only draw attention to the problem.

Over the Counter Creams

Light creams that are rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E, or creams that include chamomile, can be very effective at getting rid of dark eyes. If your dark circles are caused by broken capillaries under the eyes, night creams that include the Vitamin-A boosting ingredient retinol are an excellent choice. However, be cautious in your product choice, as over-the-counter creams are not required to prove any claims they make to the FDA, and so they may not be as effective as they initially appear.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel exfoliates damaged upper layers of skin, getting rid of dark circles and rejuvenating the skin around the eyes. This under eye treatment is particularly effective if the darkness is caused by hyperpigmnetation, but it can also be a painful process.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing uses a laser to pinpoint and eliminate the causes of dark circles. It is particularly good at reducing and removing the appearance of prominent veins around the eyes, but, like all surgery, it can be painful.

Dermal Filler Procedures

Dermal Filler Procedures cover up dark circles under the eyes using products such as collagen that add thickness to the skin. Unfortunately, this is only a temporary fix, and the procedure needs to be repeated for lasting results.
